Here we are. We made it! The wedding prep started a few weeks out with my most amazing Mother-in-law. Theresa had owned Nipawin Florist for the last decade and I guess you could say our wedding was the last hurrah before she officially sold. Am I a lucky Bride or what! Check out some of the beauties her and the team created for us. It truly was a vision and I am forever grateful.

The night before the wedding we had a fun BBQ planned with a fire and lawn games. Everyone was invited. To our complete surprise and disappointment, it literally froze in September. I’m talking high winds and snow. A little snow never got us down so we quickly made a backup plan to rent a separate cabin for the night and the entire crew squeezed in for excited hellos and burgers. It was probably a good choice to organize a separate party cabin since some guests had more fun at the BBQ than the wedding 🙂

September 22nd, 2018.
I’ll just say this. We have a lot of love in our life. It is truly inspiring and makes my heart ache just thinking about how amazing our wedding day was. From the moment we opened our eyes in the quaint little cabin to the last song of the night, we wouldn’t change a thing.
Thank you to an awesome and talented team for creating a fairytale. I highly recommend every single one of these vendors listed.
CANDLE LAKE GOLF RESORT was a dream to work with. They gave us the utmost flexibility in planning the weekend and Linda was helpful every step of the way. The cabins, the reception space and the meal was amazing! We had considered both Candle Lake and Elk Ridge Resorts as our location. While we loved everything about Elk Ridge, Candle Lake was much more accommodating. Add in the fact that I have spent every summer there for the last 20 years and it was a no brainer!
Of course all these gorgeous images are from DEMO PHOTOGRAPHY. I had followed Joc’s work for a couple of years and felt connected to her. Thank you for capturing our day just as it unfolded. I wanted every messy and emotional moment documented and to just move and feel. You are amazing.

The girls’ robes were from LeRoseGifts on Etsy. Their dresses were from Lulus and jewelry from Twisted Tree.

MAKEUP: Rikki-Lynn Makeup Artistry
HAIR: Carmelle Kubat
BRIDE’S ATTIRE: Truvelle Bridal from Sweet Pea and Noelle

Our wedding stationary was a template purchased from VineWedding on Etsy. I had everything printed through my professional supplier, GTA Imaging.

Earrings that I borrowed from my sister, which belonged to my Mom. The pearl ring belonged to her as well. The silver, black and gold pendant that holds her ashes was a gift from our dear friends the Kozun’s, and it hung around my bouquet.

Dustin’s suit, shirt and tie was custom from Elwood & Flynn. His accessories were from The Tie Bar and of course his handmade leather shoes we picked up in Vietnam a few years back.

The ceremony took place on the Waskateena Beach just minutes from the Candle Lake Golf Resort. Our 175 guests gathered on what had to be one of the strangest September days. Candle Lake was our little ray of warmth and sunshine as blizzard weather paraded around the rest of the province.
The water stood still as we entered through the trees to Ingrid Michaelson’s rendition of ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love’, which played on one tiny speaker held by a friend.

Cue ‘Home’ by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros.

Romantic and timeless. Our love of travel mixed with rich florals, gold accents and candles. I’m talking a lot of candles. Add in a few vintage personal touches and the night felt magical.

Seriously, isn’t my Mother-in-Law amazing!!!! We are so lucky that she loves us and are forever in her debt for these florals. Sorry guys, she retired.

Paper Ocelot Studios hand wrote our guests’ names on each individual luggage tag. A perfect keepsake for his or her next adventure.

Thank you Family Bakery in Nipawin for the delicious cake and cupcakes.

We danced to ‘You are the Best Thing’ by Ray LaMontagne. Turns out Mr. LaMontagne released the song in 2008, the year we started dating. Coincidence? I think not.

We wanted the feel of a small wedding tucked away at the lake all warm and cozy, but still a rockin’ party. Our people party.
